Re: Did I get ripped off? Only $413 labor=$600

I think I was overcharged for the belts. No you weren't, the P/S pump has a bolt in the back of it thats not that easy to get to. Considering your job consist of no hard manual labor and what your employer gets for your work, HOW can you complain about what some blue collar smuck charges for labor ...

No, frt struts require an alignment when changed ( camber needs to be set ). Hard to beleive the amount of money you sink into a car with that much mileage on it.

Re: Everything has failed on the car, except the engine. HEL

K-CAR_WAGON wrote:Thanks for the tip. Does the same approach work for the later K-car based cars (91-95) Spirits/Acclaims/New Yorkers with 3.0 and 3.3 liter engines as well as the 2.5?

Don't know about the later ones but I'd imagine it'll work out the same.

Re: Everything has failed on the car, except the engine. HEL

If its just the power steering pump or hoses that went it is not a particularly difficult or expensive repair. But if one of the seals in the rack went bad (as it did on mine) its a labor intensive repair to remove/replace the rack (although the rack itself is not too expensive). The rack is a peic...

Re: Everybody is destroying 25,30,40 year old cars on whims.

The high cost of auto repair can total a car in a heartbeat. It's unfortunate that MOST K car people have no clue how to fix their own car. It's easy to lose interest in a car when it cost 5 times the cost than the car is worth. Take paint for instance, it's like a $100 a quart :o . A 57 Chevy can c...

Re: 1986 New Yorker turbo project

Power module is next to the batt and retains the voltage reg. They have been known to go bad. If thats the case, you can wire in an electronic reg. from a 70's car. It's by far a cheaper way to fix the problem. http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/conte ... -Regulator

Re: Overtime today, Viper Dyno Day

Reving past peak power and torque could cause damage, Dyno operators will let off when off when power starts falling or instructed to let off at a specific RPM determined by the customer. In the case of our 2.5's it would be pointless to rev it over 5600 RPM as no one made any gains in power or torq...
