Radiator for 82 lebaron convertible

Postby rgrand » Wed Oct 21, 2009 12:34 am

I need to replace the radiator on my lebaron. It has the 2.6L engine. Anyone have any incite on how difficult it is to replace it yourself? I see advertisements for either single row or double row radiators for replacement. Does it matter which one? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Peice of cake, go with the double row. Do the thermostat as well. BUT do yourself a favor by slicing off the old hoses with a good ravor blade and replace them to. DO NOT use pleirs to remove the old hoses as you'll crash the thin thermostat housing and end up with a leak. Needless to say you'll need new rad hoses as well.

I may have to do the same thing. The hard part is finding the "ravors" and "pleirs" so it all goes smoothly :P

I have not had to do one for years but check with a local rad shop about a recore. Seldom do the end tanks go, just the core and that was a less expensive way to go. I know when my heater core went, the rad shop did it for a lot less than my usual mechanic who wanted to put in a whole new unit.
Good luck,
Martin
