The Chrysler K-Car Club

Hopefully my son won't be the typical punk!! He loves this car it is very special to him as well as me and we plan to take good care of it.... For now he is a straight A student in Band, ROTC, engineering academy, a life scout just 2 merit badges and an eagle project away from Eagle Scout. I know kids not having the experience and how things change in their lives this all may change but so far so good!! Same with everyone he hangs out with no wrecks yet we will just hope for the best... but I don't think taking the car from him is an option. Found a mirror that will work but I would have to drill holes in the car... not my first choice so I am still looking for other options. Glad to have found this site and hope to be able to learn from everyone more about the car.

welcome although i dont think you would want your son to use it as his first car, ive seen to many grandma low mileage cars get destoryed by some punk. which is why my 85 is so beat up.


as for a right side mirror, you would have to change the door glass and ya its just not worth it

Sounds like you have a very smart up-standing son!!! Sounds like your son loves his new car as much as you do. And with regular maintenance and some babying, should last him for a very long time!!

We sure hope to take good care of our new car.... Me and the Punk!! ;- ) Looking forward to being able to get together with others who have K-cars in are area??? Not sure if there is anyone close?? March 10, 2010: I've owned my 1984 LeBaron convertible since 1993 when I bought it in Vancouver, WA. It's
garnet red, white top, and runs great at 128,650 miles. Everything works...with two exceptions: slow-up-and-
down of right quarter window and the windshield washer has quit working. Any fixes you recommend? Also need
a new top and have done some internet research and found 4 suppliers that look good: 1)Convertible Top Specialist, Inc. of Inverness FLA; 2) EZ-Softtops of Port Ludlow WA; 3) Convertible TopGuys.com of South
Kingston RI; and 4) TopsOnline.com of Panorama City CA. All ask about $375 for glass window and $275 for
plastic window. Am also restoring a '62 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk. Is there anyone in the club near me
on Lake Michigan in Wisconsin? Thanks, Ed Carmo

I have an 1985 Wagon Woody. Got it from a friend who just wanted it out of her garage (she's a bit of a pack-rat and doesn't get rid of things often enough-but it panned out good for us). My goal is to make it my son's first car when he turns 16 in December. I'm afraid I'm going to get in trouble with a few people on this board, since we don't plan to restore it-my son and I are planning on making it ours!
The car had several rust holes that we've cleared up and patched with some ugly welding and body work. We had to get rid of some of the crome trim (they were part of what was causing the car to leak like a sieve). The woody panels are all faded and our plan is to paint them some color-we're thinking red. We were planning on painting the car black, but couldn't afford a gallon of black paint, so were going with the gray we could afford (we liked how that looks so we may stick with it!). We've fixed several things on it already and we're really starting to love that car! The next big thing we want to do is put an air-scoop in the hood!

Happy to be here! Just came home with a '87 Dodge Aries K - LE. My wife thinks I'm insane (she drives a BMW) but I saw it at a new car dealership (believe it or not) and I couldn't resist. It seemed so forlorn out there next to all the shiny new VWs. Felt like I had to rescue it. Poor thing was a cash-for-clunker trade (even though it gets 40 MPG???) and has a whopping 73k miles! Very little rust all in the rear wheel arches (does anyone stock/make patch panels or whole quarters for these cars?) so she's worth restoring. With over 3mm made, I'm hoping there is a such a thing as rear quarter sections - or I'm going to have to develop mad skils with Eastwood's shrinker/stretcher tools! Cheers everyone!
