Need tech help regarding intermittent no start issue but can't seem to find section of forum for tech issues. Specifically seeking information about how to test the optical module in the 3.o distributor, and part # for ASD relay so I can buy one. Local parts guys can't find a listing. Also any way to test the ASD for high resistance, ect?

Your pick-up coil/hall effect sensor is located in distributor under rotor...well it is in my car (2.5L TBI), it could have a worn spot, where it is not picking up signal. Relatively cheap, and easy to replace.

Also check your incoming fuel lines, your fuel pump might be working just fine, but, that old rubber fuel line might be cracked and leaking a very small amount of fuel, where as not fully pressurizing thus starting sometimes and sometimes no start. My 2.5L had the incoming fuel line split right where it was clamped to the TBI, fuel leaking at a fairly constant drip, wasn't enough pressure to load the injector, it cranked but intermittantly no start.

Also as well, the neutral safety switch could be causing a intermittant no start problem.
