K Car catches fire: It can happen to you!

A sad day for this K car owner. The owner was merely backing out of a driveway when the car went up in flames. Probably electrical. All of us should carry a fire extinguisher in our car. Any 20 year old car is vulnerable to fire. In 89, there was a recall for K cars with leaky valve cover gaskets. These leaky valve cover gaskets were considered a fire threat. One day when I was driving, I saw smoke coming from my hood. No fire, just a leaky valve cover that was dripping oil onto a hot exhaust or something. Also, tranny leaks are a big beware. My boss's Studebaker temporarily caught fire as the transmission blew up and the red liquid poured out. Also, for you folks back East, you guys have rust to contend with and rusty fuel lines. Take those gas leaks seriously. Anyway, just a reminder for all of us.
