Here is perhaps a potential member? Has anyone seen this black 1987 Reliant named "Gloria"?

I don't have a Flickr account so I cannot email this person, but maybe someone can.

hey 89Aries....

the fact is that 80's GM fwd's are old like our k cars and thus prone to the ravages of time and neglect. and GM's weren't quite as well built as chrysler products back then although they did ok. my grandmother sold her 85 skyhawk wagon just a couple years ago. it was starting to feel its age but had only minor surface rust due to being garaged for nearly 20 years while my grandparents were in florida. would have been fun with a hot engine and a stick. my sister drives a 99 cavalier 2 door. it is quite sporty with that 5spd. modern J bodies (cavalier and sunfire) mix and mingle with the import crowd at car shows.

Old cars weekly is a great idea. They used to run a twice yearly list of car clubs it was free. I have not seen it latley but I am sure a call to there Iola wisconsin offices could shed some light on it. I'll try tomorrow and get back with what I am told.

Well;

Make sure you get the K's out to car shows and talk them up/pass out flyers/etc.
My 84 RAM van mini will be out at every local show I can get it to this season.
Since it's an 84 it will also sport a sticker for the Antique Automobile Club
of America and the WPC club.
Don't pay any attention to the naysayers from the rod/muscle car culture, most
mellow when they get to know you as a true gear head. Don't dwell on how much
cheaper parts are for your ride, etc. - lol
I haven't met many "real" gear heads who don't appreciate another "car person's"
interest/love for a vehicle - whether it's their cup of tea, or not.
Pay no attention to the investor types, they're generally more hype than real.
Last season I showed a - non pristine - 1969 Chevy "Sportvan 90" and despite
the "Scooby Doo" references and a few elitists the old truck was received well and
my wife and I had a great time showing it as a "rat". I had bumper stickers made for
the rear windows that said "Whaddya mean ?? It is finished.."
Here's a link to some pics of the old truck -- http://s533.photobucket.com/albums/ee336/quantumphase/
Real affection is infectious. If you have it it WILL spread. SO -- spread the
K-Car bug far and wide....

Thanks for those words of encouragement. By the way, you say you belong the WPC Club? That club is sponsoring a huge car show in Sacramento this Summer. The Chrysler K-Car Club will be there. So you have the 84 K-car minivan, right? Not the V8 Bus Van. I still see 80s minivans around. The 84-85 models however are not easy to find. You have the first minivan I suspect, cool.

I'm in the Philadelphia area. Do you want more members just of the online forum? I could distribute flyers around here on K cars that I saw, if that's all you want. If you want people who are serious car collectors who want to do shows, that's more difficult.

That would be very much appreciated. Yes, please do distribute some flyers on the vehicles. We could always use more forum traffic. A few might be willing to come to a show. I will email you are flyer.
