Well, I always changed the oil.

So did I. Thought it was some cheap maintenance I could afford and would keep me going for a long time to come. But, when the engine needs new rings, and the fuel pump needed replacing because it leaked oil (old style pump), the transmission was slipping, etc etc etc . . . . .. .
