Thanks Karl. Here is what you need to do:
1. NEVER LET THE CAR OVERHEAT! ONCE IT DOES, ITS TOO LATE.
2. Cars have no temperature gauge, except for CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. Once it comes on, ITS TOO LATE.
3. Original 2.6 Engines have jet valve heads. Once you slightly overheat it, ITS TOO LATE.
4. Immediately replace engine oil pump chain, timing chain, and camshaft chain when they start to rattle, cause when they break, ITS TOO LATE. ENGINE SEIZES!
5. If you decide to do a 2.6 engine rebuilt, GET A NEW HEAD WITHOUT JET VALVES.
6. When the carburetor starts to act up, REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE, most rebuilt ones fail.
SEE, now just remember these six things, and follow PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE, and your Mitsubishi 2.6 will run 200,000-300,000 miles. No big deal.
