Alan's transmission self-destructed at 1:00 this morning on the freeway. The transmission lasted 218,000 miles and 25 years. I did all the flushes and took care of it, but it failed anyway. Was able to rev the car in neutral, get onto the shoulder, and thus not get killed on the freeway this morning. My mechanic has quoted me $1200 to rebuild.

Hi Guy,
Sorry to hear about the transmission in Alan, its never a good day when something like that happens. But, 25 years and 218,000 miles is a good life for a transmission. Sooner or later something is bound to fail. Glan to hear you are considering getting it rebuild.
Good luck, and hopefully Aln will be back on the road soon!
