The Sedans and Coupes are disappearing.

Postby 89ARIES » Wed Jul 24, 2013 5:40 am

As I have been saying for years, we need to save the hardtops. They are so rare now that they no longer pop up on craigslist. I mean like maybe 2-3
anywhere in the country. I can't stress this enough, the hardtops are going to be worth a lot of money when people finally pull their heads out of the clouds and realized they crushed all the hardtops. For the first time EVER, the only hardtops still popping up for sale is the Reliant, the Aries, and the New Yorker. All the others have about been successfully eliminated.

Well hello there melodyspace. I was wondering at some point how you were doing. I am completely helpless in being able to help our members as quickly as I like, because
we have 2,000 members, but is there anything I can do for you? I have not figured out yet how to get picture capability to this forum, but if you want to send me some more pics, I'll upload
a link. I also posted a short news bulletin about you as a new member and some pics of your car on our news site at www.chryslerkcar.com a long time ago. I have only been to Massachusetts once, and never
to a quaint bed & breakfast. 8-)

it might also be because they built a lot more convertibles and they are more popular. i prefer the cleaner look of an Aries or Reliant over the fancier models with all that gaudy trim that doesn't age well. what i would really go for is the J body Lebaron coupe that was super rare even when new. since the car was basically a Daytona with an A body rear, there was no real need for a hard top version. i have never seen a J body coupe from the 90's (with the sleeker interior), other than pics of the Phantom R/T that was sold in Mexico and basically the Lebaron version of the Daytona Iroc R/T.

It is not. They built convertibles in a ratio of 1 to 10. They had 10 times as many hardtops as convertibles produced. K-cars have suffered the
highest devastation rate.

I'd rather drive a convert but I bought a sedan as a box full of used parts that I was able to drive home.

Not ALL coupes have been crushed..Here's my 83 400 2 door coupe.. Original Paint, interior and never winter driven.
Just turned 100,000 km's and I am the third owner.
(Winters up here can easily consume K cars due to salt and rust)

Your car is one of my favorites. By 2020, these so called "car haters" pardon the pun, will be very sorry they junked all the sedans. I think everyone of the next generation will
think of the K-car as just a convertible, and then they'll be surprised a sedan was made, and they will look online, and after months of searching, they will see a 1982 Dodge 400 4dr
Sedan for sale for $10,000. We all know sedans are junked more, but for K-cars they became endangered. 8-)
