Drill your thermostat immediately if you have a Chrysler eng

Folks and sellers,

These cars are the best designed. They outnumber old GMs in Mexico 10 to 1, even as of now in 2014. K-Cars literally are everywhere today in Mexico City. In America, we have watched them overheat into oblivion because of the magic word "Lack of Knowledge". EVERY K-Car with a Chrysler engine needs to be purged of air bubbles when the coolant system is worked on, and drilling the thermostat helps with that. You also MUST check the oil as valve covers usually leak, and we have a fix for that. Watch this video immediately, and do exactly as our vice president Ed Garren says. This will save your car from an early death. J.R. of Camarillo with the nice 86 LeBaron 4dr, this includes you. It may save your car.

Happy K-Car Motoring.

Hi,

I've seen the drill the thermostat trick before but , in 20 years experience with owning a K car never thought it necessary. When refilling the cooling system you remove the pipe plug or vacuum valve on the very top of the thermostat housing. Then you fill the cooling system until coolant just comes out of the hole. Replace the pipe plug or vacuum valve and fill the radaitor to the top of the neck. This is the procedure Chrysler outlines in the shop manual. Its always worked just graet for me.

Ed,

Very nice and hopefully helpful video. Thanks for making it!

Since quite a few members here are new to doing their own work, could you perhaps follow up with one on how to actually remove and replace the thermostat.
