Thinking of buying a k car

Postby Magoo » Sat Apr 11, 2009 6:47 am

Hello what would be the best year Dodge aries or plymouth reliant k car to buy?. And what would be a reasonable price. I am looking to get into cheap reliable transportation I can work on myself.
Thanks Ben.

Don't get a carbed car, go with a TBI or turbo car.

Carb is from 81 to 84 or 85. TBI (Throttle body Injection??) or the cars that have the 2.2L turbo motor. Super rare to find but worth it.

TBI is Throttle Body Injection. If the car has little rust, runs smoothly, and the overall condition (interior, plastic, etc) is good, what's not to love? Get two or three years out of it, (unless you're up for a restoration) and go.......

Everyone has their favorites. If you want one to use as daily transportation, I vote for the newer the better, less chance it was beat to death or surviving only on life support. The seats are nice too! If you like the "Vintage Charm" aspects, try to get an '81 or maybe even an 82 or 83, in that order. I'm partial to the more unique early ones, but then again, I don't use mine every day either! Any K should give you good service with some care, but try to buy the best one you can find and afford. An nice '89 does sound good..
