The CKCC Pizza Party/Movie Night/Car Show on June 19th, 2010

The Chrysler K-Car Club Pizza party/movie night/front yard car show.




Date: Saturday, June 19th, 2010

Time: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Location: David LaFraniere’s home near Burbank,Ca. Call Dave at 818-613-5207 for directions.

Cost: $10 for each person or each car, whichever is less. This is to cover Dave’s expenses as host.

Purpose: To have a good time, enjoy each other’s company and our K-cars, and watch the three films made by our club starring club members and their cars. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Films include Cold Case K-Cars, CKCC Roadtrip, and CKCC Big Meet. Films begin at 7:00 PM. We would prefer to have as many people as possible by 7. Between 6-7PM, we will look at the cars, including Dave’s model cars, and just chat.


Important: We request, though we do not require, that each person bring their K-car. This is a celebration of the club and this event will help us grow. Also, we request that $10 dollars be brought in cash to be given to our host. We also ask a few people to stay afterwards with minor clean-up. Thanks. Hey Guy,
Did you know that there is a LeBaron s/w in Ferris Bueller's Day off? It's shown a couple of times, particularly toward the end. I believe that there is also an Aries or Reliant 4 door. I'll have to check again.

No I didn't. Never seen those shows. We will be playing the CKCC glory at Hollywood. In August 2008, Warner Brothers recruited the CKCC into their TV Show Cold Case The Dealer. We scrounged up 12 K-cars and everyone made $600 a piece. Very exciting show. My car was in it and a 14,000 mile 1986 Town and Country LeBaron Convertible rotated in the center of the dealer salesroom and was actually a brand new car at 22 years old! Then, will watch the video clips of our roadtrip in August 2009 and the last big show where we had 12 K-cars at Woodley Park on April 18th, 2010.

Well, we have had some downsizing, but its still a go. Might be just as well. So far, I have managed to call half the players. We still have 4 cars, but can probably get more. It gets even better, that seller whose car I drove in February, well when I invited him tonight, he said I can't go, but the car can!

The party may have just grown substantially. We had a bonanza recruiting over the weekend with the possibility of 4 new members coming to the party alone!

on tape for your viewing pleasures. Now, if only someone here could tell me how I could get the club DVDs to be viewable on this webpage.

Well, you can't win them all. The new members I recruited last weekend may ultimately turn out to be inactive ones. They are not on the list for the pizza party,
but they would have been welcome additions. The lady in Seal Beach decided to sell her 87 Dodge 600, but we may still meet. The lady in Oxnard with the 87 LeBaron decided to go to Disneyland instead. However, I know the seller of the 86 New Yorker may be an active one. At least I planted seeds.

Just had a cancellation, down to 9 cars. Not a big deal, I know, but still upsetting nonetheless. I just hope we hold steady at 9.

All in all, though we lost a few cars, I was very much overjoyed to see the seller on craigslist that had called to cancel today actually
show up with his car for dinner. All the people I had confirmed to show DID show. A nice guy Armando is and says he can work on K-car radios. I think we got some new permanent members. 15 people crowded in the TV room and looking at Dave's Model cars in the other room. Around 9:30 PM, we took test rides in each other's cars. Jonas let me drive his 81 2.6 Reliant on the freeway. I then took him for a ride in Mike's convertible. We had such a great time and
I am already motivated to do the August roadtrip, the Fall Fling 2010, and the next club house party. Also, I am convinced the 2.6 can last. Jonas's car
had 96,000 miles and EASILY got up to 75mph. It had no acceleration, but the 2.6 is designed that way. Properly tuned, it really can keep up with the Chrysler
2.2 on the freeway and I could have floored Jonas's car up to 85, but I cut it off at 75.
