Invitation from the Shelby Dodge Auto Club.

Postby 89ARIES » Wed Mar 04, 2009 3:38 am

My thanks to "Butch" on this forum for the invitation. The Southern California branch of the Shelby Dodge Auto Club has invited us to their monthly meeting/ dinner/ and car show at an Applebees Restaurant this Thursday night in La Habra, California. It looks like three of us from the club should be there. I might be able to get one or two others to come out at the last minute. Another car show with 2 days notice, yipee! There will be rare 80s Shelby products there like Omni GLHS and Lancer Shelby. Pics to follow. The purpose of the meeting is for collaborative networking and to see how we can support each other. My goal is to start building relationships with other clubs for American cars of the 80s, whether it be Chevy or Pontiac. Of course, we keep our identity. We will not merge into some huge, broad conglomerate. I would welcome multiple car clubs going to single events. I am also going to suggest the idea of the SDAC accompanying us to the WPC meet in Sacramento this Summer.

This went down Tuesday night March 10th, 2009. I can honestly tell you that the "SHELBY DODGE AUTO CLUB" are some of the nicest, and one of the most cohesive groups of 'GEAR HEADS' that I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

We all got together with them at Applebee's Restaurant in LaHabra, California. We had dinner, beverages, and continous 'GREAT MOPAR' conversation! This is one of those groups of individuals that you feel honored to have had the opportunity to get together with.

Each member seemed like a MoPar specialist, and they all came with their own individual flashlights to check every inch of the engines on the lot! It was so refreshing to see a bunch of guys who had such a passion for these wonderful cars. They all had "TURBOS" but they still completely loved the normally asperated engines as well.

Guy has been having problems with computer readings that have been doing weird things in his car. Butch, one of our newest members, and a 'SDAC' member, had a computer dianostic meter, that had to be worth a few thousand bucks, hooked it up to Guy's car and went looking for the answer. It was incredible, and I just couldn't believe how giving these gentlemen were! This is one of the finest connections that Guy has made, and I for one, believe that it will be one that will benefit this club for a long time to come.

Rick and I had a great time, and he really enjoyed exchanging technical information with Butch and John of 'SDAC'. I really wish that we had more members there to represent the Chrysler K-Car Club, but we tried our best to represent all of you in spirit!

Peace,

Chief
