I just picked up a 1985 Plymouth Reliant with the 2.2L 3spd auto (holley carb) for my Mother in-law. Only has 48k miles on her! Interior is near mint and exterior only has a couple surface rust spots. It has a slight exhaust leak, cracked windshield and it'll need new tires if it keeps running through winter. payed $1,100.
I have a couple questions, is the gas pedal supposed to feel like its connected to a cinderblock because it's almost heavier than the clutch in a cummins diesel! How many miles are the motors good for if its maintained regularly? Hoping to get atleast 100k on it, i know head gaskets are known to go.
Thanks,
Ron

motor wise well the 2.2 or the 2.5 can go 300,000 or even 400,000 mles easly if maintained and a occassional headgeasket now and then, i dont drive my k-cars in the winter so i never have that problem

My '84 T-1 ragtop has that heavy accelerator pedal. It was equipped for a handicap previous owner and I always figured that had something to do with it. Mine still has a chrome metal rod projecting down below the dash to the right of the steering column. It has a hole drilled through it for the hand-control rod that went to the accelerator pedal.
