My K is ready for it's long winter nap

Postby 1of10K » Sat Sep 19, 2009 2:00 pm

Around here, the snow and tons of road salt don't seem very far off. My '81 will spend the winter in the garage with a couple other resting cars, waiting for the April when it will be insured again and on the road. But there are still some winter projects planned; it will finally get a new front bumper nerf strip, new cruise/delay wiper switch and wiring, maybe put in the factory Mopar AM/FM/CB I have sitting around, maybe even a NOS passenger mirror, if I can find better window weatherstripping that what I have been saving.

The last time I drove a K all winter was back in 1981-82, in a place with no salt and only a little snow. I do remember what great traction my first K had, with it's then-new concept of front wheel drive!

same here, my 88 and my 86 Have their own seprate storage sheds, concrete floor, and metal walls, basicly they will be sealed from the snow and wind. The last time i rode in a K-car in the winter time was 2005, the 86 Reliant SE.

My LeBaron will probably go to bed this week. Seems like it was used regularly but only put about 600 miles on this summer going to local shows, golf course, shopping, crusing when the weather was perfect. Last week I had to wash it for the second time this year.

Was at a show yesterday with 850 cars, not one K in the crowd but did find a nice T&C that has not seen many winters!

600 miles? 600 Miles? How? I do at least 16,000 per year (I'm at 87,000 now) I guess you're not a daily driver.....At 600 miles a year, Gees, it will take 'til I'm dead for your car to turn over

I only drive about 4000 miles a year, I don't understand how people can possibly rack up 10,000+.... you must be in your car for half of your life. I guess some of it has to do with the fact that people live 80 miles (or more) from where they work, which is also insane.

My LeBaron is going into hibernation for the winter in a few weeks as well... but the weather has been surprisingly nice lately, and since I am willing to drive top down at sub-60 degree temperatures I'll keep her out for as long as possible!

my Reliant and aries, only have racked up about 1500 miles since i got them out for the summer, in 3 weeks my Reliant has only traveled 26 miles and the aries only about 15 miles. I hardly drive them at all.

I rack up 12,000 a year and I will be driving my K-car nonstop all winter along. Here is to 140,000+.....My car is fine, minus the thermostate and heavy duty cooling system I need to install. No check engine
light AT all and car is running almost like new.
