Thanks 89 Aries for the answer. I am assuming that is base sticker price. What I would enjoy doing is coming up with the actual cost of my car including all options. Now all I got to do is figure out what came standard in a 1986 Mark Cross edition conv and how much the extras cost new. Incidentally 16595 dollars in 1986 is equal to 32402.65 in 2009 money. Seems like the price is roughly around the same as a base model Cadillac back then.

FYI: According to the reference guide I have (James M. Flammag, Standard Catalog of American Cars, 1976-1986), the 19,684 figure for the Lebaron convertible is inclusive of all models; base, Mark Cross and T&C. So a model by model breakdown would be as follows:

Lebaron Convertible, Base model: 13,278
Lebaron Mark Cross Convertible: 6,905
Lebaron Town & Country Convertible: 501

Incidently, the above reference guide states that a total of 3,941 non-convertible 1986 Lebarons had the Mark Cross interior option. Has anyone in the club ever seen one of these?

Thanks 82Lebaronconv! I seem to faintly recall seeing a MC LeBaron Coupe once for sale, and as I recall it looked pretty good. I would still love to know if I can find out what was optional and what was standard on a MC Conv plus how much the options cost new. Anyone have any ideas on how I could do that?

Thank you.

Chucky: The Flammang book has some of this information. The Mark Cross convertible package (RPO Code AFC) included the leather interior with the special door medallions (only the seats were genuine leather, the door panels were vinyl) , leather wrapped steering wheel, electronic instrument cluster, Ultimate Sound system(AM/FM Stereo with casette deck) and a choice of the chrome locking wire wheel covers or the cast aluminum alloy wheels. The T&C convertible (RPO Code AFG) added the woodgrain side panels and the new 2.5 liter four. Other available options included:

Air Conditioning: $780
Power Driver Seat: $232
Turbo 2.2 Liter Four: $628 (the 2.5 liter, optional on base and Mark Cross, listed at $279)
Power Trunk Release: $41
Color keyed floormats: $46
Trunk dress-up kit: $53
Conventional spare: $85

Automatic transmission was standard on all 1986 Lebaron models.

I want a turbo T&C with air and chrome wire wheels. That would have been about a $20,000 car in 1986!

Thank you for this information 82Lebaronconv! I am not familiar with the book you mentioned. Perhaps I can buy it from Amazon. I too still want a nice T&C convertible or possibly a wagon with a turbo. I think if I were to get one I would have met my K car collecting goals!

I just checked on Amazon.com and they do have the James Flammang book in stock. It is a later edition than my copy as it goes all the way up to 1999. i purchased mine a number of years ago, and it ends with the 1986 models. There is another book by this author in this series, "Standard Catalog of American Cars, 1940-1965" which has a wealth of information about cars from these years: production figures, specifications, options and features. Another great car book by James Flammang is his work "Cars of the Fabulous Fifties". Richly illustrated with authentic period photos and advertisements, it really brings this colorful era in automotive history to life. It's one of my all time favorite car books.
