Name me a winter beater.

Postby dodgeariesguy » Mon Jan 04, 2010 4:03 am

Ok, lease is up and vehicle was returned on the 2nd of this month, I need a good reliable car that will last for atleast 3 year's. Now I work on some car's at my Co-op placement so I have some car's I won't touch. So since I respect everyone here's opinion I want some input. I'm young and so I need some experienced people to chime in. Preferably 1990 and up. If interested I'll take and post pic's of the car's I test drive with little reviews.

i have averaged 33.5 MPG and yes thats V6 power everyone, all thanks to a K&N air filter and a magnaflow muffler

MEXICO
That is my idea for a winter beater. We fly down this coming Sunday and return in April.
Sorry to rub it in, but have run out of excuses to stay in Barrie in the winter when I can't drive a convertible with the top down.
Will and David, hope you make the best of it and I will have the laptop with me and keep up with the club so if you put together a meeting in the spring, I will look forward to getting together with you.

Will, how about a Chrysler Cirrus or Dodge Stratus? They go between $500-$2000 around here. What's your budget?

I've been looking at some of those, but am looking at newer thing's I can afford $8,000 thank's to the bank approval I got today. So far I've looked at a 2007 Dodge Magnum and a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban. Like I said I'll try just about anything. So keep the idea's coming.

I don't know about Canada, but down here you can get some really great deals on Jeep Cherokees, and they're great winter rides. I had a '93 and never had any problems with it, and it had a very powerful 4.0 liter six that could pull out tree stumps!

What ever you look at and think about buying..DO NOT buy anything with the 2.7Liter V6 in it!! Run, run, run!!

I suggest getting a 1998 or 1999 Dodge Pick-up with the 318 engine!!! My Dads truck that just got T-boned with him in it had 194,000 1-owner miles on it when it went to Dodge heaven.

Other than brakes, tires, catalytic converter, and a water-pump and regular maintenance he really enjoyed it, and said it was the best vehicle he had ever owned!!

For a winter beater, you could get a Ford Taurus, Crown Vic, Buick Lesabre, or if you could get a nice low mileage Dodge Neon and beef it up with a nice set of wheels and tinted windows.

Thats my 2 cents.....
