K-Car Hate

Postby dodgeariesguy » Wed Mar 24, 2010 7:45 pm

Well it seems that the K-Car has made the list of "20 econoboxes we'd like to forget", stupid journalists.

Tom and I personally left angry comments on their board. These people are just plain moronic. The K-car is one of the most beautiful and stylish classics of the 80s, period. These people will be sorry when they are all gone and worth $10,000. One day they will. I'd say as soon as 2020.

They also show the Omni GLH, the Rampage, (looks like the red 2.2 model), and the Gremlin X as being forgettable cars. I have had all of those, plus the Chevette, all are neat in their own way.

Are those people nuts or just trying to get the "buzz" going on their site??

Still can't figure out, even after all these years and cars why only performance cars are considered "acceptable" and these other interesting and unique cars made someone's "forgettable list".

I never really even wanted a Hemi Cuda, even if I could have afforded one before all the auction feeding frenzy started

But I loved my bright blue Gremlin X with the 304 and the Levi interior!

I, too, disagree with many on the list. The Gremlin was not "forgettable". The Ford Escort, The Omni, The Rampage, and The Mercury shown were, if taken care of, extremely reliable go carts with very good gas mileage numbers for the time. Where's the Celebrity?

There were some "CLUNKERS" in there, and there were some "COLLECTOR" cars listed in the same article. The writer obviously doesn't know anything about these cars and they were chosen at random based on his personal perception of them. I guess it must be OK to print a story without doing any fact checking, or even remotely knowing anything about the subject that you're writing about. This may be passing as automotive journalism, but I just tend to think of it as old fashioned asinine stupidity!!!

I always thought the Rampage was a good idea for a lightly used truck.A much better idea than the usual Ranger/S10 rattly stuff. In fact,if I could find one right now,in any but scrap condition I would buy it.Far from a loser vehicle,it just didnt get the attention it deserved when it was sold originally 82-84.I frankly dont think Chrysler advertised them at all, choosing to keep pushing the Ks and Omni/Horizons in volume on TV.
If I found me an 83 Rampage 2.2/Scamp GT 5-speed in decent shape I would be a happy consumer.

Take that,mindless internet surveys!!

What journalists pass as fact these days is laughable. And people like lemmings to the sea, follow blindly. We should be proud to think outside the box,and not follow what is "hip". It is not what is popular now, but what stands the test of time.
I plan to be laughing in my grave.
