Sailcloth or Canvas

Postby 2scots » Thu Mar 10, 2011 11:00 pm

We have had much work done to the car since November. Recently we had the Heater Core and Evaporator replaced and A/C is working great. The next project is replacing the original top. Our mechanic recommended a Canvas top. He said that it would be more flexible if we are putting the top up and down often. We just got an estimate on the "Sailcloth", and am waiting for the canvas estimate. Does anyone have any preference? Is one actually better than the other?

Thanks Charles. I went with Canvas instead of the Sailcloth for durability reasons. I believe that it will also look better than the original Sailcloth. :D

Remember NO waxes or liquid sealants of any kind on canvas. Clean only with mild soap and water.

Thanks for the info. The guys that are doing it are also taking a look at a few imperfections (slight cigarette burn/and a small tear). Has anyone had seats replaced or redone, and if so what is the ballpark cost involved?
