Hey all! New from Utah

Postby Special K » Tue Nov 25, 2008 12:28 am

Hey everyone. Heard of this forum from CarDomain. Someone commented on my 83 Aries and linked me here. I just barely bought my car earlier this month. I am 23 (24 next month) and have owned MANY different cars. from my usual RX-7s to my Cadillac, Audi and BMW's. My family owned an 84 Aries when i was a kid and i decided, recently, i wanted to focus on being more green to save some money. I have already spent 500 on fixing the car. With only 104000 miles and a new motor i want to keep it running AND looking nice. I live in Utah so i don;t think i will be able to make it to the meets but i hope to bring some fun and knowledge to this forum community of friends with K cars. Here is a picture of my car.

Welcome. I'm from New Jersey. Mine is a 1982 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible my parents bought new and I started driving in 1986. I kept it ever since. It has about 72,000 miles on it. I had a couple of BMW's too, about 15 years ago. A '91 and a '93. - Mike

Why are you putting your K's under for the winter? Are there problems if you drive them in the winter? That's one of the reasons i bought the car, To store my other cars in the winter time.

Welcome to the club! Congratulations on being our first known member from Utah. We have 330 members, but you are the first Utahan. Actually, there is one simple reason why we put our K-cars away for the winter, RUST!. The rocker panels are most susceptible and if you don't watch it, the unibody will start to flex and of course, as with all metal, rust will claim it in the end. Here in Los Angeles, it never snows and I live away from the ocean, so I drive my car everyday, rain or shine, summer or winter.

That is very good looking. I don't expect my car to ever look that good but hopefully it won't be just another eye sore k car.

Hi and welcome. Noticed you are from Orem. I'm familiar with the area. My family loved for a while in Payson and Santiquin (plus my wife has a sister in Clearfield, further north). I used to live in Evanston, WY, so often came down through Heber City and the canyon to visit my folks. If I had known how much I was going to miss it back there I would have never left. But, both our families ended up in California and up in years so we moved to be near them (both of my wife's parents are now dead, in fact). We do make it back every year for a visit, though. But not in a K car (haha)- although we still drive a Chrysler product.

there is a very good reason why i put my k-cars away UP here in Wisconsin we have salt and snow, Both of my k-cars are show cars and they both have a handful of trophies, i encourage you to do the same, There are not many 1981-1984 k-cars left yours is a good example of a surviver, in my opinion the new cars are the ones that are winter beaters.
