It is nice when a show car is displayed with the hood closed for at least a portion of a car show - even when the engine compartment is detailed to the max - like your cars are. It gives spectators an opportunity better view / get a better set of photographs the car.

I agree, most car show rules want the hood and trunk open, and top down if you have a convertible, until the judges have have seen the car. But as soon as they finish checking it out and move on is when I close the hood and the trunk for the after pix.

I usually leave the hood and trunk open and have a full blown display, not only does that gain you points in concourse judging (my style) but also shows off the amount of effort that went into the car. since my under body is well detailed I also put mirrors under the car. I usually take first in the 1980-1989 1981-1990 classes, reguardless of cars, not unless its a convertable or something.

I often don't take pictures of cars with the hood and trunk open at car shows cause it kind of spoils the looks of the car for me.
