Fresh Pictures of the '82 Spring Special

Postby 1of10K » Tue Apr 19, 2011 2:53 pm

Out for some air, here are some pics of the Spring Special. Note it's factory Mopar pedal dress-up kit.

39,000 original not-turned-over miles, numbers matching paint and trim, this car is original as sold, except for the 6 disc remote-head Mopar CD changer hid in the trunk!

The car runs, drives and shows like new, engine & trunk are as clean as the rest of it.

Enjoy

Thanks for the photos. Is the paint scheme actually 3 different colors (blue, beige, white) or is the beige/white really the same color and looks different because of the lighting in the photo? It must be pretty rare. I can't say I remember seeing any multi-color cars even when they wer brand new. Are the wheel covers also special. They somehow look a little differnt to me?

The paint is daystar blue on top, pearl white on the bottom. The wheels are the optional road wheels for the K, the Omni Horizon had them too, but the K has it's own wheel centers, as shown on this car

Allpar people told me that about 75 or so were made, my research and memories from back in the day were that each dealer could order one, most were used for showroom attractions. This particular car was special ordered, but the original owner agreed to let it sit in the showroom for a month before she took it home

Glad everyone liked the pics. I managed to correspond with the car's original owner, who sent me a letter detailing the car's history. Use it as part of my show display, a neat touch.
