That little hole in your hinge....spring time tip

Postby 1of10K » Sat Apr 23, 2011 2:17 am

Open the door of your K, look at the hinge, see the little hole in the center of the vertical section on both the top and bottom hinges??? That is the lubrication hole, get a spray can of Lithium grease with the long red plastic tip, like the type used on a WD40 can. Spray in the grease until it runs out a little, repeat on all your hinges. They are now good to go!

Don't use WD40 for this, it sprays too thin and will not last..

I've also had good luck using a grease gun with a needle attachment to force in some chassis grease. It definitely keeps the doors quiet and moving smoothly.

I use a regular old oil can, that works well too. Sometimes grease can clog the hole, it may be necessary to open the hole up with a dental pick or paperclip so the oil will go through easier.
