Not for nuthin, as they say, if your car is better than 15 years old, finding parts in a junkyard here is virtually impossible. With the advent of computer inventories and reliable data on the most popular models/years/parts in demand, they will only keep the largest percentage of wrecks from which they can profit. A six year old Escort tail lens would be easy, but a 14 year old grille assembly for a Buick is probably a lost cause. As for us,what percentage of the population, at this point, either drives a K-car on a regular basis, or is looking for used parts with which to cosmetically or mechanically repair a vehicle whose intrinsic worth is more than the actual dollar value of the vehicle? If you have a K-car, and the romance isn't there, it's probably on it's last legs anyway; get some other beater to drive. In the northeast, parts yards are relatively small; real estate is expensive. Just like a retail store, they have to turn so many $ per square foot. That's probably why Arizona, Florida (etc) have so many K's on the lots. A) they don't rot from the weather, and B) they can afford to let them sit because the site is huge and the taxes are cheap.
