Work starts on the 1987 Lebaron...

Postby MyDodgeDip » Mon Nov 07, 2011 12:17 am

Well, I got the 87 Lebaron down to the shop and looked it over. Looks like I can save it. Got the brake lines replaced and brakes bled. Needs front pads and rotors, conveniently I have some from an 87 wagon from my friends junkyard. Looks like after that it's down to a couple fuel line repairs, windshield wipers, headlights, glue the RVM back on the windshield, bang out some dents, get a turn signal lens and a good bath inside and out.

Some Before pictures:

It lives! Still have to fix the reverse lights, bang out the dents and clean the inside. Had to replace a bad strut that stuck after the first large bump I hit. At least I had one laying around. Also still has old gas in it so a new tank once this one is run down should help.

Yea, since the pictures I got the fender banged out a little better, cleaned the vinyl top and adjusted the hood a bit. Still need to work on the bumper. Lost one of those 93 New Yorker hubcaps that was damaged so now it's got 2 of them on one side and the 2 snowflake ones that came with it on the other...  Still need to detail the interior.

First tank was 20.1 MPG, second was 19.8. Checked the timing and it was way off. This tank has been doing better. Still need to get a new air filter, Between the parts stores sending cheap made in china ones and then sending the wrong ones I haven't been able to get the right one... :x

Wow, that is pretty much the exact same model and color I have (a 1987 LeBaron, pics in "Welcome" board). I have a question - what do you do to get that vinyl top its cleanest? That has vexed me.
