Wow ! Great shape! Glad to see another one in such great shape. Ironic that your's and mine were posted the same day!
I hope you enjoy driving yours as much as I do mine.

Tom - I posted a description of how to put on the boot on my listing; I hope you can understand it. BTW, I am very impressed with how clean your engine compartment is. Has yours been restored at all? Mine is all original, a driver, has some minor blemishes, but is still a lot of fun; 34.3K miles on it. It's been in the family since 11/86 when my father bought it from a good friend of mine (he decided he wanted a BMW). My friend bought the Dodge originally because he liked the one I had at the time (a twin - '85, Garnet red/white), so I know the entire history. I took care of the car for my folks all these years and it was passed on to me about 5 years ago. I would like to replace my wheel lip mouldings due to 25 years of people dinging them ( I know, good luck finding them) - Are yours still in good shape?

Thanks for posting the how-to on your site for fitting the convetible cover. I will take a look tonight. I'll write if I have any questions.

I recently acquired the car from its original owner. Everything on the car is original including the tires. Interior looks practically new. Paint is in rather good condition for its age. One small ding on the left rear side. It has all of 40,282 miles. This lady really babied the car. Never out in bad weather. She bought it from the local Chrysler dealer. I saw the car parked at a local Gulf station with the for sale sign in the window. Stopped for a quick look, however no one was aroung to speak to. Later that evening I was glancing through the latest Hemmings and spotted the car with full description. I was on the scene the following day to get a closer look and test run. Bought it the same day. Turns out that the station owner is the son of the lady who was selling the car. He has ensured the car's proper maintenence.

After a long time of searching for the right vehicle, I was fortunate enough to find this only 3 miles from my home. My family and I are enjoying it very much, but with historic plates I only plan to drive it about 500 miles per year.

Best Regards

Tom

That is one incredible find! It looks like it has the 2.6L engine(?)
BTW, I had the original tires on mine until about 5 years ago when one day I was running down the highway and it dawned on me that the tires were 20 year old goodyear Vectors. The thought of one blowing out at any moment (and the fact the Vectors were never a good tire anyway) made me go buy new ones immediately. New ones were quieter, smoother, and handled better - but the Vectors set the bar low to begin with. You might want to think about replacing yours if they really are the originals

Very Pretty. In fact, It is virtually identical in color scheme and condition as mine. I've been trying to upload pictures, as I just had it painted, but the board denys me every day! ( and I'm too lazy to figure out picasa). Excellent find...with only 40 grand, before you do any serious driving, I'd flush and fill the trans, and break it in as if it were new. Odds are the woman who owned it rarely went over 45, because with that few miles it likely went to Shop Rite and back. Incidentally, I'm only about 60 miles from you, at the center of the top of the state (By Greenwood Lake) and just passed your area driving up the parkway from AC last night. Perhaps a meet in the spring?

Hi Rich:

Thank you for the maintenence advice. I am bringing it to a very trusted, family used mechanic on Monday to give it a good going over. I will be sure to check fluids this weekend. The prior owner's son owns and operates the local Gulf Station. He was very attentive to the cars needs over the years. Also good advice on the tires. Which brand did you decide on when you replaced yours?

I think a spring meet is an excellent idea. I understand that there are a number of us K-car folks in NJ including one with an extensive collection. I would be glad to work towards that if we get enough members involved. Depending on where everyone is located, we can then determine a central location.

Thanks for writing and let's stay in touch.

Regards

Tom

Tom, I replaced what was on the car when I obtained it with BF Goodrich Control Plus, 185-70R-14, which have about a 7/8 inch whitewall (whitewalls are a must.) I must say, I've gotten 40,000 miles out of them, they have (in my opinion) excellent wet weather traction. I'm almost due for another set.

Hey Rich

Hope all is well. I need to pick your brain....Having a hard time finding P185-70R-14 with the 1" ww. The only tire I can find thus far of that size has a 2 1/4" ww.

Can you tell me where you purchased your tires?

Regards

Tom
