Good looking car, Justin. Black and gold is a great combination, except for that weird "L" on the C-pillar.

Yes, plaid was a very upscale option for Chrysler from the late thirties until the mid-fifties. look how it has come down over the years.

Sorry life is throwing you spitball. I hope you can find a way out without giving up the things you love. But if it does, it is only temporary, as is everything. You have the strength to get though it. Hang on!

"WELCOME" It's really hard to imagine that such a beautiful car has 275K miles, "WOW!!!" I look forward to seeing more pix and your future contributions to the club.

Great car Justin. Haven't seen a plaid one since 1980!

Look at the top of the door panels on the inside as they run along the window. Is there a seperate piece of horizontal plastic, used for the arm rest along the window, or do the door panel's vinyl trip wrap all the way to the window as the do on the 81 1/2?? Check under your hood, what is the build date and production number on the data tag??? Let me know,I have some other info for you if you have a plastic trim equipped model.

You also have the optional road wheels on your coupe too, they were about the same price as the 13" full wheel covers, they used the omni/horizon rim and trim ring, but different center, the ones you have on the car are also on my spring special.

The first 10,000 K cars "officially" sold were supposed to be a part of the 10,000 in 10 days nationwide promotion. At the dealership we were supposed to keep track of any Ks in this group that were prepped for delivery after they were sold, one of the "quick indicators" was supposed to be the hard plastic strip along the top of the door edge. The customer was given a letter congratulating them on showing their support for the New Chrysler Corp. I also remember seeing a some cars after the promotion ended that had the plastic strip, but 95% of them didn't. I'm sure Chrysler used up what ever parts were on hand, and may have installed most of their back up stock when it was determined that the part was not going to be used ever again. Many people thought it was an excellent way to "save" the soft vinyl from wear, but most didn't like the look and the general hard plastic feel, and that school of thought seems to have won out. Also keep in mind that there were fleet cars being readied for sale at the same time that did not fit the same number sequence and also that the big group of early promo cars were still being gotten rid of too, without fanfare through the dealerships, so the actual serial numbers of the early cars fitting in this group should be considered "flexible".

What a beautiful ride. Congratulations! I've been looking for an '81 Reliant, and there's just not many around.

Incredible. Thanks for sharing.
