Postby duked » Mon Apr 18, 2011 3:49 am

my 86 has been great but seemed kinda lonely in the driveway. saw this car on craigslist tried to get a few people to save it then decided to take matters into my own hands and talked them down from 650 to 400 its 2.2 cab with 70k miles. has a stall problem but im betting its the fuel filter.

Looks very nice. You got a very good deal. Hope its just the fuel filter, but most times its the carb. Let me know what fixes the stall problem.

figured i'd do an update as great as this car looks its been giving me a lot of problems apparently has a new carb and intake......which are installed wrong (vac lines all kinds of messed up, manifold bolts only finger tight, springs and retainers missing.) its having fuel delivery issues, has a leaking gas tank. and even though exhaust is nice and new looking its not well anchored and bangs around underneath the car while its running . all in all its got a good base and engine but the fuel and exhaust on this car is going to be quite strenuous summer project.

Even though you have a lot to deal with, you still got a great deal. Besides, it will keep you out of trouble.

THE 85 MEXI-K IS ALIVE!!!!!!!!! new fuel pump today old one was putting more gas in the crankcase than in the tank. idled for the first time since 2009 (at about 2000 rpm as every k does when I first start it lol) from what I've heard still need to do some vacuum line work, but I think ill soon be driving the 85 instead of the 86. Anyone happen to know where the pcv vent tube on an 85 2.2 is supposed to go? line is there but not hooked to anything car had a new manifold and carb installed and they did it a little weird, vac diagram shows me nothing just says to manifold.

In my 83 manual show for the 2.2l with carb, it shows the PCV valve installed vertically in a vent module which is installed on a bracket next to the air cleaner. Then it says the hose from the PCV valve connects to the carb fitting, but in the drawing it looks like the hose connects to a verticle nipple on the top cover of the air cleaner. There is also another hose (shaped like half a rectangle) that runs horizontally between the vent module and the lower body of the air cleaner assembly.

I will send you a copy of the drawing if you send me your e-mail if this does not make sense.

I looked on my engine 83 2.2l. The PCV valve hose appears to connect to a horizontal nipple coming out of the intake manifold below the car and pointing toward the front of the car. I sent you a couple of photos.
