I usually use diesel before oil changes(about a quart)
It doesn't hurt.
I own my '85 2.2 Reliant since dec. 07 and this car keeps me busy almost every weekend.
I have done the head cover gasket, oil pan gasket(twice),tranny service, smog pump(twice),belts and a lot more.
Bottom line is that this is an easy to work on car.
I couldn't do the timing belt and I had to pay $400 to replace that. That was the only time when I took it to the crooks.

Strewth - I'll have to get on here more often.
Thank you to all those blokes who posted offering help with mechanical expertise.
Haven't seen this many "mechanics" on this site all at once since I joined - well done and thanks to you all! :D

86 k Plymouth 2.2 w/autotrans
stalls when stopping- sometimes it will crank- sometimes it is just dead-
New everything except the computers in the kick panel. Anything you
can tell me is appreciated.

Oh: no reading on the diagnostic.

I used to have my own carburetor and ignition shop, then worked for a local Dodge dealer from 1978-1982 so was there during the introduction of the Ares and the 2.2L engine. I owned a nice 1985 Lebaron convertible, originally a 2.6L with feedback carb, converted it to a 2.2L T2 engine and modified A413. Totaled in 2009, now working on it's replacement a 1986 Lebaron convertible.

If there is anything I can provide in the way of help I will be glad to.

Hi
Things are a bit slow on this site these days but I'd like to welcome you aboard!!! Like you I was around and an active technician during the intro years of the L car and the K car. I actually cut my teeth on the early Lean Burn stuff .... Its always good to have more experience show up as the info on these cars is fading away out there! Have fun!
