Depends what kind of boat, a row boat, no too heavy, a small motor boat sure! Nothing larger than that it's not heavy enough then.

That's strange, I have found it came in handy for getting my LeBaron moving for the last 29 years!

You are obviously not interested owning a first generation LeBaron, Dodge 400, 600 as most of these cars had the 2.6 through 1985. That is dicounting quite a few cars. You should start your own club.

Oh come on people if we can't have a laugh at ourselves now and then this would be such a clinical and boring car club like some of the Mercedes owners clubs out there. I know the 2.6 can be good, everyone does, but when you get the temper-mental ones that never work right you get pissed and start hating them, I've said it before. Come on lets have some fun, and laugh at our cars foibles.

I think that Butch is just a little bored since the christmas tree business has slowed down.

Seems they made 2 versions of the 2.6, one ran forever  and the other was forever in the shop.

if you have a 2.6 needing replacement but want to keep your trans, get a 2.4 out a mitsu fwd. the mitsu truck/suv with 2.6 and the 2.0/auto combo had the wider bellhousing pattern whereas the fwd cars and my 87 ram 50 2.0/5spd has the narrow bell housing. the 92 expo (fwd minivan) was available with an 8 valve roller camshaft 2.4 w/ 6 bolt crank pattern. the eclipse got a newer gen 2.4 with dohc in 2000. you will just need to have a torque converter that will fit the early 6 bolt crank like the old 2.6/2.0 or the later 7 bolt pattern. you might be able to adapt a transmission from an eclipse to get a 5spd. automatics are dogs and have no overdrive ratio.

I find a suprising number of 2.6 Ks. Last year, visiting sellers, I drove a number of LeBarons with smooth running 2.6s. All of them are slow from a start, in other words, no kick, but get up to 75 no problem. 8) Jonah's 81 Reliant is the most smooth running next to last surviving 81 mitsu I every saw and drove. The other 81 2.6 mitsu I drove ran like crap.

id love to go up against an 81 2.6 V.S my 2.2, but I wouldnt now do such a thing, as the engine is 30 years old and I dont want to blow it up.
