Power Steering Reservoir

Postby 80sgal » Sat Feb 08, 2014 9:30 pm

I need to put more power steering fluid in my car as I am seeing red fluid drops on white paper bags that I have laid underneath the engine primarily on the left side underneath.

Question: Where is the power steering fluid reservoir located so I can add more power steering fluid?

Question 2: What type of power steering fluid do you recommend for my 1985 Chrysler Lebaron Mark Cross Turbo Convertible.

Thanks,

Hi,

Question #1 and #2- On a 2.2L engine the power steering pump and reservoir are on the passenger side between the top of the engine and firewall, it's easy to get to. Just follow the drive belt and it will take you right to it. Use only power steering fluid, NOT automatic transmission fluid. You can get power steering fluid at any auto parts store. Don't fill it all the way to the top, leave some space for the fluid to expand when things warm up.

As to the red spots on the floor, red may be auto matic transmission fluid. When you say left side is that as you would be sitting in the driver's eat or facing the front of the car? If the power steering fluid is down, common leak points are the hoses, pump shaft seal, pump resevoir can seals and finally the power steering rack seals.

Hello 80s gal. Your welcome. The beauty about these cars is everything is easily accessible. Now, I am sure you won't forget where to add that fluid. I found mine
myself when my car ran low on fluid. A simple cap. I would love to see some pictures of this car of yours. You can email them to me if you'd like at aries89@chryslerkcar.com. 8-)

I do plan on providing photos. It is a unique vehicle as you don't see many, if any, here driving around in San Antonio. Since we have had some inclement weather here and throughout the US, I plan on doing some photos in the Spring when the weather is nicer.

Thanks again

A lot went to facebook. A lot just aren't active because of the economy, but we get new members joining this old board here every day. Facebook isn't everything, as it fails to store posts. I am trying
to tie the best of both worlds. In fact, I still manage to get ten people to an event, even though nearly all of them don't respond to emails. Strange. On average, we are getting about ten
looky looks a day here, but few posting. In other words, a lot of K-car owners just spy or look at what is posted, but never say hello. 8-)

Hey, speaking of not saying hello.
When I come on board from my timezone, the only users are me and Google Bot & Baidu [Spider].

What hope do I have against those two ????
