2.2 ROLLER CAM FOLLOWERS DOUBT

Postby zalaz » Tue Aug 26, 2014 9:37 pm

Hi there!

I have a 1985 2.2 Plymouth reliant that after aprox 140000 milles is in a "mayor restoration" process now.

I bought new .20" pistons to rebore, new bearings, new valves, valve seals, new camshaft, and new rollers camshafts followers...

I have a big doubt about that 2 last items (cam followers and cam) because my car went without roller camshaft followers from factory but i bought that type because are far better that older ones (no rollers type). I bought a mopar cam, identical to the original old (almost dead) cam.

the question is: will the cam i bought work well with the newer roller-type camshaft followers or will i need a new newer type cam to run with??
i think roller-type followers were introduced near 1988. The cam i bought is 1985 model.

Any advice will help me.

thanks!

pd: sorry but my english is not so good...
