heater selector switch

Postby niceold600 » Sun Nov 02, 2014 1:47 am

hi ... i am new here and, as my name indicates, recently bought a nice old 1986 dodge 600 coupe (2.5 auto).
one problem that i have found is that the heater selector switch (the one that directs heat to floor, dash, or windshield) doesnt do anything, all airflow is directed at the windshield no matter what position the selector switch is in.

i have taken the trim off the dash and examined the control assembly ... all wires are intact and it looks like the lever is making contact with the 2 plastic switch housings the way it is supposed to. i do not yet have a haynes manual to guide me so i wonder if there is something that i am overlooking or maybe the contacts in those 2 switches are known to fail over time ?

by the way ... i did replace the radio so it's also possible that i knocked something off, but it doesnt look like it. and i dont know whether this problem existed before the radio swap or not.

also ... there is no air conditioning on this car.

any help is appreciated.
