Wiper motor grounding

Postby MGordon » Tue Nov 18, 2014 9:55 pm

Is there a seperate wire that runs off the wiper motor that is supposed to ground it. I noticed a black wire with a round female plug, in the harness next to the wiper motor. The motor of course has a plug for 4 wires, I noticed a spare blade terminal on the wiper motor. I am not sure if the ground wire is missing. When I had the wiper motor housing touching the studs on the cowl, it works. I had replaced the turn signal/Wiper switch, think that was it, along with the wiper motor. I forgot to look at some of the junk K-Cars at the salvage yard to see how they are wired up. I also have to replace the bushings on the linkage.

That motor is different then mine. Did they change them for 1985?

After looking at the motor once again , I noticed a copper strap, that was pop-riveted to the plate the wiper motor bolts to. I have no idea why I did not notice this before. It was corroded and dirty, from crud collecting below the wiper motor. I cleaned it, and put new bushings in the wiper arms while I was at it. They now work like new ones. Thanks again.
