Gauge Swap? Digital gauges in an '84 E-Class?

Postby GrammaCar » Tue Dec 09, 2014 8:41 pm

Hey, guys.

So I've been looking around on the interwebs at all these different versions of the K Car. I see that a great many of the parts are interchangeable.

Is it possible (or not too terribly difficult) to swap out the standard gauges in my '84 E-Class with a cool, digital cluster like I see in the New Yorker or something like that?

Excellent info. Thanks.

So it's not super simple, but not terribly complicate either it sounds like.

I'll see if I can get my hands on some of that documentation, the service manual or whatever. And I'll keep my eyes out for a New Yorker or something at a junkyard.

Do you know if swapping the computer will adversely affect the other electronics/tuning/economy of the car? I'm not very knowledgable about how specifically these computers are tuned for specific cars and models and whatnot.
