Performance Monitors Compatible with Older Cars?

Postby GrammaCar » Mon Jan 05, 2015 6:53 pm

Hey, guys.

I've been thinking I'd like to get some kind of device to monitor what's going on with my car under the hood. I only have a speedometer and a few warning lights in my '84 E-Class, and I miss having in info available like Temp and Oil Pressure and things like that.

I know my car has the info available, I just need to figure out how to get to it. I've considered putting in a digital dash, if I can find one and get it hooked up. But I'd love to just buy a little monitor that I can stick on the dash.

I don't have a smart phone or anything like that, so it'd need to be something with it's own monitor/screen.

I've found a lot of stuff for '96 or newer cars, which I think is when the OBD standard or whatever it is came about. I need something for old cars like ours though.

What do you think, guys? Is anything like that available?

Thanks!
