I am a new owner of a 1985 LeBaron FI Turbo convertible. It runs terrible so I'm starting some repair projects and just recent I pulled the throttle body to clean it out, check the AIS motor, replace seals, etc. I ordered the "Throttle Body Repair Kit from my local autozone and the kit is clearly for a different throttle body. I've tried O'Reilly auto parts as well as RockAuto - they all show the same kit photo. Here is a photo of the gasket next to my actual throttle body:
Here is another photo showing the assembled TB
I'm now wondering if someone swapped the engine on this thing and I have an engine from some other year?
I'm hoping that someone here can help me with:
- Is that a picture of the throttle body from a 1985 2.2L FI Turbo?
- Is the gasket mismatch a known problem and do you know of a source for the correct gasket set?
- Is there a VIN on the engine block and if so, where? (so I can confirm the engine and vehicle match)
I'm in a pinch with this thing taken apart, the weekend ending and no gasket kit to finish the rebuild.
Thanks,
Steve
