Manuals for Limo?

Postby Erfoy » Sun Nov 01, 2015 2:27 pm

Hi, I'm new to the forum.

I have an 85 LeBaron Limousine. I have purchased the Haynes 82-95 Mid-Size Chrysler Manual, but it has relatively little information on the Mitsubishi 2.6 engine with the Mikuni carburetor. I got the engine running, but it has a fast idle that can not be reduced by adjusting the throttle stop. Obviously, I need to understand all of the complicated vacuum and electrical controls on the carburetor, and their related sensors. Does anyone have a source for detailed manuals for this engine?

At the moment, the car is not driveable, as the rear wheels, hubs and stub axles are off it, having been replaced by a trailer axle and different wheels when a rear wheel came off the car in Gallup NM while I was towing it from Las Vegas to Maryland. Somewhere along the way, a couple of the pistons came out of the rear brake cylinders, and I need replacements or an entire new cylinder. The AutoZone parts list has a cylinder, but it says it's not for the Limo package or the station wagon. I did manage to get new bearings from AutoZone and a replacement stub axle and hub from a Maryland wrecker, so I could get the car back on the road if I could get the engine running properly and get the brake parts.

It also needs a windshield -- are these still available? And some incompetent mechanics charged with repairing a faulty window motor managed to knock out some of the car's electrical system and the electronic dash no longer functions. They also failed to repair the window motor. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Start with getting a full multi-volume set of Chrysler factory service manuals from Ebay.

(I don't think that there is any specific repair manual for the limousine.)

Getting the carb just right on a 2.6 has always been problematic.

New (old stock) windshields are probably still available - assuming its the same as the Sedan. (Just check with a few big auto glass dealers.) The convertible windshields are unique and hard to find, but sedans are not.

I am not sure if the brake parts are unique to limousine. Brake parts are not unique to the station wagon; however, there are a couple of versions of the brakes available (regular and HD) and you have to match the size. Rockauto (Online parts supplier) lists the brake parts for your car and it looks like you just have HD brakes which are used on other K-cars.

This link has a reproduction owner's manual for the 1985 limousine - if you don't have one. Originals are also readily available.

1985 limo had it's own owners manual. I have 4 of them NOS. 20.00 each

I also have the 1985 limo brochure 15.00

rear brakes are no different that the other K cars that year.
