Tires 13" 1982 Car

Postby fury1000 » Wed Feb 10, 2016 11:52 pm

Possible getting a 1982 with the 13" Rally Wheels, tires are 33 years old, so want to replace, but it does not look like anyone makes the size thats a whitewall, normal descent tire.

Any ideas on this, dont want to get something you cant even get tires for??

I searched on here and found a response listing some weird low rider tires, are those normal sized tires by some off name or actual matching tires by some off name.

Thanks for any ideas, Chris

Hi
I own a '82 Dodge Aries and an '85 Reliant so I'm familiar with the tire problem...the original tire size 175/75R13 with the 1" white wall is off the market (except as a trailer tire) as I've gone down a number of avenues looking. The size is available from Coker Tire but with a wide whitewall 2" to 21/4" but they're not cheap. I did some tire size comparisons and the best compromise is the 185/70R13 but nothing is out there with a narrow whitewall. These tires are a bit lower but you don't loose to much ....gives you about a 3mph low speedo error (at 65 indicated you're going 62.5). I bought a set of these this last summer for my Reliant but again they're just black walls.
I do have an alternative....I located a full set of the optional four bolt 14" road wheels and these rims will provide a wider range of tires to choose from. The size used according to specs is a 185/70R14 all of which are readily available but regrettably not in a whitewall. I'm still looking though.....
I've included pics of the 13" road wheel and the 14" .

Hi
Wow! The hair went up on the back of my neck when I saw those!....most definitely snag them. I was chasing that size but everything that came up that was available came up as a trailer tire. These are most certainly a surprise, there is a bit of a difference between a 75 series and an 80 series tire (80 series approx .7 inch higher ) but nothing to worry about! These are new!!! Excellent!

These tires 13" 175/80/R13 are available in New England. I bought 2 about 8 months ago. I believe it was in Danbury Connecticut. I don' know the name of the company,
but it is a fairly big chain in New England. One Problem: they do not ship. Maybe that has changed? My receipts are in my car, in the shop, ie the telephone #.
'There are only a few tire stores in Danbury check it out.
