Runs rough when warm

Postby tkleftie » Sun Oct 02, 2016 5:46 pm

Dad was relegated to the 89 Aries K (2.2 I believe) (without cruise control!) when his car developed transmission problems. 90,000 actual miles. My commute is 35 miles each way. After about 20 miles, the car starts bucking if I keep a constant speed on the gas pedal. Bucks and kicks forcing me to speed up and slow down. Runs good the first 20 miles or so.

Plugs were recently changed as well as distibutor cap because this was happening. I have had some problems starting when ready to leave for home after it sits for 9 hours, but in the morning it starts perfectly. The starting seems to be better after I took the coil wire off and put it back on. Not sure if it had anything to do with it or not.

Ideas or suggestions?

Hi
Check the side of the coil tower for any cracking , I had a similar problem with the coil centre tower arcing to one of the coil terminals. Similar symptoms , bucking , misfiring etc.
Also it wouldn't hurt to check for fault codes either just to see whats there.
See this site for info: http://www.minimopar.net/fault/
Hope this helps....
