DEC 2006 K-CAR STATISTICS. OLD PAGE.

Postby 89ARIES » Fri Nov 11, 2011 5:50 am

MUCH LESS NOW:

Here is my rough estimate and idea of how many cars could be left. I assume that roughly a quarter of the K car convertibles are left while less than one percent of the 1981 K cars are left. If anyone has a better estimate or idea they wish to share, let me know. Out of all US Production, here is what could be left as of December 2006:

I made this chart based on my findings on the internet, viewings, and known carb issues. I factored in a 3-4% differential for years between 81 and 85 when carb and other problems were a major issue and helped to reduce the 1st generation sedans and wagons to extreme rarity. I gave the Executive a higher survival rate since it is a limo and the convertibles the highest survival at 18-26% survival rate. These numbers are my summary and do not include a detailed breakdown of what certain models I estimate to be less than 1,000 left. Listed below are the models I consider very scarce and could be under 1,000 left today.

Finally, the models under 100 I consider in danger of extinction. They include 1983 Chrysler Executive, 1982 Dodge 400 Sedan, 1983 Dodge 400 Sedan,

1986 Chrysler Executive, and the 1982 Chrysler LeBaron Town n Country. I did not mention some of the rare Convertible editions since convertibles always have a high collectors rate and all models are still somewhat easy to find. I did this survey just for fun to see what I could come up with. I know this survey of mine ended up being lengthy. Figures were taken from The Standard Catalog of Chrysler. I hope you got something out of it. If not, have a nice day.
