Pic a Part in Sun Valley, California.

My goal is to hit all the So. Cal pick-a-part yards monthly and update you all with photos. I went splunking tonight
and for $44 I cannibalized a K and got a computer and two headlight lenses and bezels for $44. Pics soon to follow.
There were 4 Kcars in the entire yard. They were a:

Brown 1985 Dodge Aries 2.6 sedan
1986 Dodge 600 2.2 sedan
1987 Plymouth Reliant Sedan
Another late 80s Reliant Sedans.

I was extremely surprised as they were absolutely no LeBarons Ks. Maybe most of the convertibles
are now being recognized as true classics. A very positive though indeed.

Here in California, pic a parts are a rarity and they aren't many around in So. Cal. Here, I was among over 1000
cars. This pick-a-part scraps everything, except for a few 20 cars they try to sell whole to a willing collector.
They were virtually almost nothing before the 80s. I saw perhaps 10 70s and 2 60s. It seems they already dried up
here or our otherwise not being scrapped. Almost no early 80s, but tons and tons of 80s GMs. They were almost
no 80s Chryslers, except for the 4 K-cars and 10 M bodies. Here is a list of cars to rare here that should never have been
here, but unfortunately, they were  Sorry Butch, I saw absolutely no L bodies or G bodies  I'll come back
here in a few weeks.

1984 Oldsmobile Firenza SX 2dr Hatchback Coupe
1983 Chevrolet Cavalier Wagon
2 other 80s Cavis and 3 80s Skyhawks
A Citation
1978 Chrysler LeBaron Sedan
1970s AMC Eagle Wagon
1979 Pontiac Astre Coupe
1970s Lincoln Town Car
...and more

On the way home, I saw a mint Plymouth Caravelle and the familiar 86 LeBaron sedan stil alive and
on the road.

Pics to follow VERY soon.

Well I'm glad you finally started hitting the yards, I found 2 G bodies last week at the Ecology near Applebees. I was getting some gears for Chris Wright from a 90 Daytona, also got the shift cables for another guy at TM. there was an 86 Laser there too, I bought the hatchback struts off it. I spent 3 days and hit 7 yards looking for the gears Chris DESPERATELY needed for a hybird trans he was building for a customer. I didn't pay much attention to anything that didn't have a 523 trans in it. And yes I was at that Pick A Part in Sun Valley. There's another yard near there that's alot cheaper thu, U Pick Parts at 11409 Penrose St. But you did get a good price as they usaully charge over $50 for the puter alone. He still needs more of these gears, I'm alway looking for them.

Well, I got the pics, but I can't upload them until Tuesday. Here is the history of the 4 Dead K-cars at Sun Valley Pic a Part:

I actually took the only computer in the yard from the 89 Reliant 2.2. Did I make a fatal mistake? It looked like the right computer, but the engine
for my 89 Aries is a 2.5. Also, I took the Vin numbers as I was interested in getting a little history (eulogy) on each dead car and see how it got there
and how many miles. Two years ago, I was able to get individual car history with smog data, etc. I was annoyed to find out that it now costs $25-35
to do so. Can you guys decipher the vin numbers? Interesting.

No not a fatal mistake at all. The 2.2 + 2.5 have differant timing curves but will still run the car. You didn't waste your money because now you have a spare power board. Thats the 14 pin board inside the puter. Down the road you can socket the logic board ( the 60 pin board ) to get the right cal for the 2.5 if it comes down to that. Which I doubt.
