Masi T2 found just in the nick of time

Postby Butch » Wed Aug 05, 2009 12:23 am

This 89 Masi T2 was next in line for the crusher, had the hard to find, one year only Garret turbo with the 2 1/2'' swingvalve. I stripped it of the turbo, air box, rad/IC + relayed hoses. Then I stashed all of it for this weekends 1/2 price sale. 8) Then I got a pair of hatchback stuts off the Datona next to it. Good couple of days yarding this week.

Sounds like some awesome finds! I went up to the local yard today and there was only one K. It was a 1986 non turbo LeBaron coupe. That's pretty smart to stash that stuff though.

Well I scored the turbo for $55. Daytona Ed got the super nice Rad/IC + related T2 hoses etc. for $65. So another T2 converted G body will exsist in Cali. The turbo needs alittle work as 2 bolts were broken for the swingvalve but otherwise it's in great shape. The rest of the car is history now. I love 1/2 price sales.

The Maserati DOHCs,used Maserati engineered heads. Chrysler sure made future repairs/parts availability a no-go.Iacoccas biggest product mistake at Chrysler had to be the TC.He thought he could take a K and make anything out of it.Stupid move to make an overpriced imported convertible and make it look like the regular 87- J body LeBaron...... When he dreamed that one up,he must have had a little something extra in his cigar....

Only 500 DOHC Masi's were built, all were 5spd cars. The others were 8 valve Turbo's or 3.0 V6's with automatics only. The TC's have alot of parts that interchange with the K based cars. I have a few on my G body.
