When I turn on the a/c or heater, the engine rev's substantially. Anyone assist me with the basis of this problem.
Thank you
Fred

I'm NOT a mechanic.

And I am NOT very educated on cars with carbs.

But, when was its last tune-up, plugs, wires, distr. cap, rotor, air-filter, fuel filter, vacuum lines

But, perhaps the carb may need a adjustment or a new accelerator pump, or it needs a good cleaning?

sorry I am not of more help!

I would not worry about the extra revs unless it is excessive. Carbed cars will have a solonoid acutuate to bring the revs up a bit when AC is turned on to compensate for the extra drag of the compressor. AC should also kick on the fan at the same time.
If concerned it is too much and not confusing it with extra fan noise, take the air cleaner off and have someone turn on the AC while you watch and see if you can see it push the throtle up a bit, it may be adjustable,
Let us know what you find.
