Hello
86 reliant 2.2 will not idle at stop must brake and gas to keep running: Intalled Lancer-2.2-new time belt-all new vacuum hoses-new batt & solenoid-new wires and plugs. Rechecked several times. No read out on fault code. After engine change it ran perfectly. After about 1000 mi it started doing the afore mentioned. The engine has 69 thousand mile on it.

When you are on the road it runs fine. However, there is a twisting sound that will quit when you accelerate. Coming down a small grade coasting and it quit silently without a hint of what's ppening. Pulled over and it took several cranks to get it started. I think the shift lever need adjusting, but sometimes the starter will not engage. no sounds from the solenoid. After a few attempts it will crank. The gas mileage has remained the same throughout.

I have the car at a garage and he is unable to locate the problem.

Help
