Postby Pete in NH » Fri Sep 16, 2011 12:28 pm

Hi,

I'm looking for the passenger side rear quarter glass for my 86 Reliant 2 door. I'm not sure but believe glass from Lebarons and such would fit also. Parts book says see you local Mopar glass supplier. i haven't been able to tarck down this oiece of glass new.

Thanks

There are a number of businesses that stockpile/deal in obsolete glass. However, there is generally not to much interest in quarter windows. I have not used any of these businesses. The last glass piece I needed to replace (a rear side window for my 83 K-wagon was still availble new locally.)

Here are a few online sites that you might try.

I suspect you can still easily find a decent used piece from a scrapyard. If its a quarter window a used piece is probably in good shape. The windshields usually get sandblasted, but side windows are usually in decent shape.

You could also try this supplier, which has previously advertised some obsolete autoglass items from the 50's on another club to which I belong.

Hi,

Thanks for the leads on classic glass sources, I'll check them out. Yes, I suspect this piece of glass would be easily found in a junk yard. So far I've only found two 4 door K's in a local yard. There is one other yard I need to check out but we've had so much rain lately I'm sure this yard is mostly under water. Hopefully it will dry out a little before the weather turns too cold. The yards up here have plenty of land and there is not a lot of pressure on them to crush cars unless the price of scrap steel goes up. There aren't too many K's left around here though, the salt got them all long ago.

Looks like plenty of used ones are still avaialble from about $25 and up if you are willing to settle for used. Try this search engine.

Although you can probably get it much cheaper if you find one at a local U-Pull it type of junkyard.

Hi,

Thanks again for the used part resource. Actually I'd prefer a piece of good used glass as it would have the Safeguard and Penta Star Chysler logo's. As I said, I want to check out one other local yard and then i'll start a wider search.

if you are still needing the quarter window glass, remember that i am parting out an 88 Aries 2dr. the interior is stripped out so easy access. i don't know where in NH you are exactly, but I'm right across the river/border from Portsmouth.
