Insurance

Postby mkjohnson39 » Tue Feb 07, 2012 10:59 pm

I need insurance for 10-12 K to cover the replacement cost for my newly restored K car.

This car will be a daily driver.

Can someone give me a clue as to where to I may get insurance.

Classic-Solon,Skelly-Haggerty do not offer coverage.

I have never dealt with them, but you might try Grundy.

You need to make sure to have something in the policy about agreed replacement value, as I think you will have a hard time convincing anyone to give you 10-12 K to replace a K-car regardless of the prior condition after an accident.

Hi,

i think you're in kind of a catch 22 here. Collectors' type insurance policies will not cover daily drivers and regular car insurance is not likely to cover a restored car at a value way above the normal value for the type of car and year involved. If the car is really to be used as a daily driver you might try approaching your insurance agent with all the biils and receipts of the restoration costs. If you can document the value of the car in this way you might be qable to work out some type of agreed value coverage that would be above the normal value of the typical k car. But, I doubt you'll be able to get the coverage up to 10 to 12K.

Good luck!

I would first get it appraised with pics, then start checking!

My company has my 1981 Reliant insured to 7,000 dollars, my 1986 Reliant 5,500 and my 1988 Aries around 4,800.. all of course are on their collector plan...they are limited to 1,000 miles a year which is about my norm. But ya collector as a daily driver most likely is not going to fly....
