86 LeBaron T&C Wagon

Postby JHandler » Tue May 25, 2010 4:17 pm

Having no luck finding a competent Chrysler dealer that knows the K-Car(St. Petersburg,Fl.)I need some help finding someone who does. I checked your site and found a listing for "85 Turbo Aries"(Steven) but couldn't access his web site. I mentioned in another section that I don't want to junk the car but I don't need a piece of yard art. Cosmetically the vehicle is pristine and it would be a shame to have to do so. But if it won't run consistently I have no choice. Thanks, Jay

Here's a tip: find an independant garage thats been in business 15-20 years. A lot of mechanics from the "old school" (early simple computer control days) left dealerships and have there own places. Many of them know other mechanics in their "network", if you will. If the guy is over 50, present your situation and ask if he knows anyone who was formerly with Chrysler back in the day. To be honest, the dealerships today really don't have anybody left that knows the old stuff, and can't be bothered tying up a "technician" on a car their computers can't hook up to, let alone diagnose.....Good luck.

i didn't know these old cars were so complicated they required specialized mechanic training to repair. i find i can pretty much fix it myself because most of the repairs are mechanical in nature.

as for electronics, i'm ditching the old power and logic module setup in my 86 k wagon in favor of controls 2 generations newer (SBEC I from 90/91) so i can run a mexican only computer and have multi port injection and easily switch over to full turbo electronics later for a planned 2.5 turbo inter-cooled motor.
