First time post

Postby annajeansdad » Mon Feb 20, 2012 9:53 pm

New to the forum and trying to keep 2 k car convertibles on the road. First is a 1986 Dodge 600 with standard 2.2 efi 140000 miles with some sensor issues. New long block engine 20000 miles ago. Will not fast idle at cold startup. Gives lean O2 sensor code (51). It has a new catalytic converter and muffler. All seems to look fine but I don't know what else to check. Engine Control Computer behind passenger kick panel was checked and the connectors were cleaned and reinstalled. Working now on a loose tilt steering wheel by disassembling and tightening the 4 reverse torx bolts in the tilt mechanism.
The second car is a 1986 Lebaron Turbo Mark Cross Town & Country convertible with 43000 actual miles. Recently purchased as a non running car. The previous owner was told that the turbo had burned up keeping the engine from runnning and then sold it really cheap. That was not the problem. The timing belt had slipped 5 cogs due to hard foam that had come loose from behind the plastic timing belt cover and wrapping itself around the camshaft cogwheel. Runs great after new timing belt and service. Digital dash quit working altogether and a used working unit from salvage yard was installed. Now I will try to fix the original digital unit. The Turbo engine will run circles around standard TBI engine!! Fun little cars to have, to drive and enjoy.

Hi,

Welcome to the club, with what sound like two really nice cars. Good luck witht he O2 sensor issue and let us know what you find. You seem to know your way around under the hood, nice save with the timing belt issue.
